What Foodster stores on your device, why, and how to change it — including the analytics you can switch off.

Your cookie choice
Loading your current setting…
1. What this covers
“Cookies” here means cookies and the equivalent storage a browser or app gives us — local storage, session storage and mobile device identifiers. They all do the same job: remember something between one page and the next.
2. The three choices
The banner on your first visit, and the panel at the top of this page, offer three settings:
- Only necessary — nothing but the storage Foodster cannot work without. No measurement of any kind.
- Analytics only — we also count how the site is used, against a random device identifier. We are not told which account you are, nothing you type is captured, and no session is recorded.
- Accept all — we also link that usage to your account, so when you contact us we can see what actually happened on your order.
There is deliberately no “reject everything” button: strictly necessary storage is what keeps you signed in and your bag intact, so switching it off would just break the site. You can block it in your browser, and Foodster will then largely stop working.
3. What we set, and why
| Name | What it does | Category |
|---|---|---|
__session | Keeps you signed in. Set when you log in, readable only by our server, cleared when you sign out. | Necessary |
xEleoEcommerceAuth | Tells the page you are signed in so it renders your account rather than the guest view. Holds no personal data. | Necessary |
foodster_state | Remembers the state you chose, so we show kitchens that can actually serve you. | Necessary |
eleo_guest_session | Holds a guest bag together before you sign in, so your items survive to checkout. | Necessary |
eleo_cart_coupon, eleo_checkout_receipt_email | Carry a promo code and the receipt address through checkout so you do not retype them. | Necessary |
eleo.referral_code | Remembers the referral link you arrived on, so the credit reaches the right person. | Necessary |
eleo_detected_geo, phonePromptDismissed | Remember your approximate area and that you dismissed a prompt, so we stop asking. | Preference |
cookie_consent_level, cookie_consent_accepted, cookie_consent_timestamp | Record the choice you made here and when. Without them we would ask again on every visit. | Necessary |
| Firebase sign-in and messaging storage | Holds your authentication token and, if you allow notifications, the token that lets us tell you an order is ready. | Necessary |
| Product analytics identifiers | A random device identifier used to count visits, journeys and errors. Set only under “Analytics only” or “Accept all”. | Analytics |
We use no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking, and we do not sell what any of this collects. Where we later enable a measurement vendor such as Google Analytics or PostHog, it runs under the same choice you made above and is listed in our Privacy Notice.
4. If you have not chosen yet
Until you pick an option, Foodster applies Accept all for visitors in Nigeria, relying on our legitimate interest in understanding how our own site performs (section 25(1)(f) of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023). Necessary storage is exempt from consent because the service cannot run without it. You can object at any time by choosing another option above — no reason needed, and it takes effect immediately.
Visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, where consent must be affirmative, get Only necessary until they choose otherwise.
5. Changing or clearing it later
Use the panel at the top of this page whenever you like — it is the same setting the banner writes, and it overrides your earlier answer. You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser settings, which resets Foodster to a first visit and signs you out.
