Delete your account or data
How to have your Foodster account closed, or specific data erased without closing it — what we delete, what we must keep, and for how long.
Last updated: 2 September 2026
This page covers the Foodster app and foodster.ng, published by Foodster Retail Limited (RC 6912929).
Delete your account
Pick whichever is easiest — both reach the same team.
In the app
- Open the Foodster app and sign in.
- Go to Profile → Settings.
- Tap Delete Account and confirm.
- We record the request straight away and email you when it is complete.
By message, from any device
- Email [email protected] from the address on your account, or message us on WhatsApp or call 0809 119 9001 from the number on your account.
- Write “Delete my account” and give the name and phone number on the account.
- We may ask one or two questions to confirm the account is yours — never your password or a card number.
- We confirm by email or message when the deletion is done, normally within 30 days.
Deleting your account is permanent. Your order history, saved addresses and any remaining Foodster credit go with it, so spend or ask us to refund your balance first — tell us in the same message and we will return it to your original payment method before closing the account.
Delete some data without closing your account
You do not have to close your account to have data erased. To ask for part of it:
- Email [email protected] from the address on your account, or message us on WhatsApp.
- Say which data you want erased — for example saved delivery addresses, your reviews, chat history, or your marketing preferences.
- We confirm your identity, erase what we are able to, and tell you if anything must be kept and why — normally within 30 days.
Some of this you can do yourself at any time: delete a saved address in the app, and unsubscribe from marketing using the link in any message.
What is deleted, and what we keep
| Data | What happens | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email, phone number, password and sign-in identity, profile details | Deleted | Removed within 30 days of the request |
| Saved delivery addresses and contact preferences | Deleted | Removed within 30 days |
| Saved baskets, favourites and browsing history | Deleted | Removed within 30 days |
| Reviews, ratings, chat messages and support conversations | Deleted or detached from your identity | Removed or anonymised within 30 days; complaint records may be kept anonymised for up to 2 years |
| Push-notification tokens and device identifiers | Deleted | Removed within 30 days |
| Analytics and diagnostic records | Anonymised | Cannot be traced back to you afterwards; aggregate records kept up to 26 months |
| Order, payment, refund, invoice and VAT records | Kept, restricted to accounting and legal use only | At least 6 years from the transaction, as Nigerian tax, accounting and limitation-period law requires |
| Fraud, chargeback and abuse records, where any apply to you | Kept, restricted to that purpose | Up to 6 years |
| A dated receipt that you asked for deletion | Kept | Kept indefinitely as proof we acted on your request; holds no account content |
Backup copies are isolated from everyday use and expire on their own cycle shortly after the live record is deleted. Where a dispute, legal hold or investigation is open, we keep the records it concerns until it ends, and delete them afterwards.
If you cannot sign in
Contact us anyway — email [email protected] or message us on WhatsApp. We will verify the request another way rather than leave you locked out of your own data.
Your other rights
Deletion is one of several rights you have under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. You can also ask for a copy of your data, correct it, or object to how we use it — see the Privacy Notice. If you are unhappy with our response you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission at ndpc.gov.ng.
